Our Story
Marriage More Abundantly began with a calling that came before the ministry had a name.
While Mike and Karmel were engaged, they felt called to marriage ministry. About two years into their own marriage, they took a step of faith and began serving couples through a ministry originally called Marriage Builders.
At the time, Mike and Karmel were newly married themselves. They did not believe they had all the answers. In fact, they wanted to keep learning and growing in their own marriage while helping other couples do the same.
That desire shaped the way the ministry would operate. For each workshop, they researched a relevant marriage topic, presented what they had learned, and then invited couples into meaningful conversation. Couples could discuss the topic, share their own experiences, learn from one another, and work together to discover solutions and ideas that could strengthen their marriages.
That model continues today. It has become what we call the Marriage Mo' way.
Over time, we discovered another ministry using the name Marriage Builders. As we considered what God was doing through our ministry, we realized that the name needed to reflect an even bigger part of our vision.
We believe God's desire for marriage is not simply that couples survive challenges, but that they experience the fullness of life He intends for them. Marriage will have difficult seasons. Couples will face conflict, disappointment, change, and unexpected circumstances. Happily ever after does not mean a life without problems. It means learning to do marriage God's way through all of them.
Why “More Abundantly”?
The name Marriage More Abundantly was inspired by John 10:10 and our belief that God's promise of abundant life applies not only to us as individuals, but to our marriages as well.
We believe couples can experience a marriage that is more abundant: more connected, more intentional, more fulfilling, more generous, more unified, and more alive.
That's the heart behind Marriage More Abundantly.
Founded in 2009 and officially recognized as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in 2022, Marriage More Abundantly continues to create opportunities for couples to learn, connect, grow, and thrive together.
